Paul Bellow

Saul Bellow (born Solomon Bellows) was a Canadian-American novelist born in Lachine, Quebec, in 1915 and raised in Chicago, known for his vivid portrayals of modern urban life and Jewish-American experiences. He earned a bachelor's degree from Northwestern University in 1937 and published his first novel, Dangling Man, in 1944, followed by acclaimed works like The Adventures of Augie March (1953 National Book Award), Herzog (1964 National Book Award), and Humboldt's Gift (1975 Pulitzer Prize). Bellow won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1976 and died in 2005.
