Patricia Beatty
Patricia Beatty (August 26, 1922 – July 9, 1991) was an American author and children's librarian renowned for her engaging historical novels aimed at young readers, many of which focused on Native American cultures and the 19th-century American West. Born in Portland, Oregon, she published over 50 books, including her debut 'The Indian Canoemaker,' and co-founded the John and Patricia Beatty Award to recognize excellence in juvenile literature. She received multiple literary awards, including the Commonwealth Club of California Medal and the Scott O'Dell Award.
