Parnell Hall

Parnell Hall (1944-2020) was an American mystery writer known for the Puzzle Lady crossword puzzle mysteries, Stanley Hastings private eye novels, Steve Winslow courtroom thrillers under the pen name J.P. Hailey, and co-authoring the Teddy Fay series with Stuart Woods. Before writing, he worked as an actor, screenwriter, singer/songwriter, and private investigator, and he wrote the screenplay for the 1984 film C.H.U.D. He received a Shamus Award, Edgar and Lefty nominations, and a 2019 Malice Domestic Lifetime Achievement Award.
