Octavio Paz
Octavio Paz (1914–1998) was a renowned Mexican poet, writer, essayist, and diplomat, widely regarded as one of the major figures of 20th-century Latin American literature. He received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1990 for his impassioned writing with wide horizons, characterized by sensuous intelligence and humanistic integrity. Paz founded influential magazines like Plural and Vuelta, served as Mexico's ambassador to India, and resigned in 1968 to protest the government's suppression of student demonstrations.
