Norman Del Mar

Norman René Del Mar was a distinguished British conductor, horn player, and biographer renowned for his expertise in the music of late Romantic composers such as Edward Elgar, Gustav Mahler, and Richard Strauss. He held principal conductor positions with several orchestras, including the English Opera Group and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and was also a respected teacher at the Royal College of Music in London. Del Mar authored comprehensive studies on Richard Strauss and left a significant legacy of recordings of British classical music.
