Nick Carter

Nick Carter is a fictional character, not an author. The character was conceived by Ormond G. Smith and created by John R. Coryell, first appearing in 1886 in the New York Weekly story 'The Old Detective's Pupil.' Originally a dime novel private detective, Carter was later reimagined as a spy/secret agent in a 1964-1990 novel series featuring 261 books written by various authors under the Nick Carter byline.
