Neil Ardley

Neil Richard Ardley (1937–2004) was a prominent English jazz composer, pianist, and prolific author who wrote over 100 popular books on science, technology, and music. He was a distinctive figure on the British jazz scene of the 1960s and 1970s, blending modern jazz with prog, folk, sacred, and classical influences. His book The Way Things Work, co-authored with David Macaulay, sold 3 million copies and won multiple awards.
