National Research Council
The National Research Council (NRC) of the United States is the working arm of the National Academies, established in 1916 by executive order of President Woodrow Wilson under the National Academy of Sciences charter in response to World War I's demand for scientific and technical services.[1][2] It coordinates studies and activities involving scientists and engineers from universities, industry, and government, providing advice on science, engineering, technology, and health policy.[3][6] Members are drawn from the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, and Institute of Medicine.[1]
