National Gallery
The National Gallery is not an author but a renowned art museum in Trafalgar Square, London, founded in 1824 when the British government purchased 38 paintings from John Julius Angerstein's collection. It houses over 2,300 paintings from the mid-13th century to 1900 and has been directed by Sir Gabriele Finaldi since 2015. Publications associated with the gallery, such as histories by Charles Saumarez Smith and Jonathan Conlin, document its development and cultural significance.
