Nancy Willard

Nancy Willard (1936-2017) was an American writer, poet, and author best known for her children's books and poetry. She won the 1982 Newbery Medal for 'A Visit to William Blake's Inn: Poems for Innocent and Experienced Travelers,' the first book of poetry to receive the Newbery Medal. Throughout her career, she published over 70 books across multiple genres for both children and adults, and taught creative writing at Vassar College from 1965 to 2013.
