Munro Leaf
Wilbur Munro Leaf (1905–1976) was an American author and illustrator of children's literature, best known for his classic book The Story of Ferdinand (1936), which sparked international controversy for its pacifist message and was illustrated by Robert Lawson. Over his 40-year career, he wrote and illustrated nearly 40 books, including the 'Can Be Fun' educational series like Grammar Can Be Fun (1934) and Manners Can Be Fun (1936). Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he studied at the University of Maryland and Harvard, worked in publishing and teaching, and contributed to Ladies' Home Journal.
