Mr Denis Diderot
Denis Diderot (1713-1784) was a French philosopher, art critic, and writer, best known as co-founder and chief editor of the Encyclopédie, a landmark of the Enlightenment that promoted reason, tolerance, and empirical knowledge.[1][2][3] Initially trained for the clergy and law, he rejected those paths to pursue writing in Paris, producing influential fiction, philosophical works, and criticism despite poverty and censorship.[1][4][5] His ideas challenged religious dogma and traditional authority, shaping intellectual discourse before the French Revolution.[2][3]
