Mila Bongco

Mila Bongco-Philipzig, born in Manila, Philippines, moved to Edmonton, Canada in 1984 to pursue graduate studies and earned a PhD in 1995 from the University of Alberta with a thesis on comics and superheroes. She later relocated to Munich, Germany for further studies, started a family, and returned to Edmonton, where she advocates for inclusion, diversity, and persons with disabilities. As a Filipina-Canadian author, she writes children's books exploring the migrant and immigrant experience.
