Michael Pearce

Michael Pearce (1933–2022) was a British writer renowned for his historical fiction and police procedurals, particularly the acclaimed 19-volume 'Mamur Zapt' detective series set in early 20th-century Egypt. Born in Egypt to Anglo-Egyptian Sudanese parents, he grew up in Sudan and later returned to teach there before becoming a full-time writer in London. His works span historical mysteries and crime novels, earning him the Crime Writers' Association's Last Laugh Award.
