Michael L. Free

Michael L. Free is a Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and Chair of the Department of Mining Engineering at the University of Utah, where he has conducted research and taught since 1996. His expertise spans hydrometallurgy, corrosion, electrometallurgy, materials synthesis, and related fields, serving as principal investigator on over 65 projects funded by government agencies and companies. He holds a B.S. in metallurgical engineering, M.S. in chemical engineering, and Ph.D. in metallurgical engineering from the University of Utah, with over 250 publications including a hydrometallurgy textbook.[2][3]
