Mervyn Peake
Mervyn Peake (1911–1968) was a British writer, poet, painter, and illustrator best known for the Gormenghast novels, a darkly imaginative fantasy sequence centered on the decaying castle of Gormenghast. Born in China to missionary parents and educated in England, he also earned recognition as an accomplished artist and book illustrator before his career was cut short by illness.
