Melanie Hoffert

Melanie Hoffert is an American author who grew up on a farm near Wyndmere, North Dakota, and is best known for her memoir Prairie Silence, which won the 2014 Minnesota Book Award in Memoir and Creative Nonfiction. She holds a BA in English Writing from Concordia College and an MFA in Creative Writing from Hamline University, and has received awards from literary journals including The Baltimore Review, New Millennium Writings, and Under The Sun. Currently, she serves as Chief Marketing Officer at the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation and splits her time between Minneapolis and a cabin near Battle Lake, Minnesota.
