Max Cryer

John Maxwell Cryer MBE (10 December 1935 – 25 August 2021), known as Max Cryer, was a celebrated New Zealand television producer, presenter, radio broadcaster, singer, and writer. He was the author of numerous non-fiction books on etymology, language, and general knowledge, and spoke the first words on nationwide New Zealand TV in 1969. His career spanned television, radio, stage, and the printed word, making him one of New Zealand's first television stars.
