Max Allan Collins is an American mystery writer, comic book creator, and screenwriter born on March 3, 1948, in Muscatine, Iowa, best known for his graphic novels like Ms. Tree and Road to Perdition, the latter adapted into an acclaimed film starring Tom Hanks. He has authored numerous novels featuring series characters such as hitman Quarry, thief Nolan, and historical detective Nate Heller, and wrote the Dick Tracy newspaper strip for many years.
