Mary McNear is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Butternut Lake series, which draws from her lifetime of summers spent in a small town on a lake in the northern Midwest. She writes her novels in a local doughnut shop while sipping Diet Pepsi and resisting the temptation of fresh doughnuts. She lives in San Francisco with her husband, two teenage children, and a high-strung minuscule white dog named Macaroon.[1][2][4][5]
