Mary Hughes

Mary Hughes was a British author of children's and Christian literature, born in Newcastle, England. She began publishing in 1811, wrote popular books such as *Aunt Mary's Tales* and *The Ornaments Discovered*, married Thomas Hughes in 1817, and later moved to Philadelphia where she opened a school for young ladies.
