Mary Gordon
Mary Catherine Gordon is an American writer born on December 8, 1949, in Far Rockaway, New York, known for her novels, memoirs, and literary criticism that explore themes of Roman Catholicism, identity, and gender relationships. She is the McIntosh Professor of English at Barnard College and was named the Official State Author of New York in 2008. Her debut novel, Final Payments (1978), gained critical acclaim and established her as a significant voice in American literature.
