Mary Francis Cusack

Mary Francis Cusack (1829–1899), also known as Margaret Anne Cusack or the Nun of Kenmare, was a prolific Irish writer, historian, and publisher who authored over forty books on topics including history, religion, Irish nationalism, and women's rights.[1][2] She was a Poor Clare nun, vocal supporter of the Land League, advocate for female education, and founder of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace after leaving her original order.[1][3] Her works include political treatises like 'The Present Case of Ireland Plainly Stated' and fiction such as 'Ned Rusheen.'[2][4]
