Martin Clifford
Martin Clifford was an English writer, poet, and educator who served as Master of the Charterhouse School and was a prominent Restoration wit and freethinker. He is most noteworthy for his influential 1674 book 'A Treatise of Humane Reason,' which was published anonymously and later reprinted with his name in 1691. He died on 10 December 1677 and was buried in the chancel of St. Margaret's, Westminster.
