Mark James Owens

Mark James Owens is a biologist, zoologist, environmental activist, writer, and lecturer known for his wildlife research in Africa.[1] He conducted studies on animals in the Kalahari Desert in Botswana from around 1974-1981 and in Zambia from 1985-1997, co-founding the North Luangwa Conservation Project and later focusing on grizzly bear conservation in the US.[1] With his wife Delia Owens, he co-authored memoirs including *Cry of the Kalahari* (1984) and *The Eye of the Elephant* (1992), and received awards such as the Rolex Award for Enterprise.[1]
