Marjorie Flack
Marjorie Flack (1897-1958) was an American artist and writer of children's picture books, best known for 'The Story about Ping' (1933), illustrated by Kurt Wiese and popularized by Captain Kangaroo, and her Angus series featuring a curious Scottish terrier based on her own dog. She began her career after studying at the Art Students League, published her first book 'Taktuk, an Arctic Boy' in 1928, and received a Caldecott Honor for 'The Boats on the River' in 1947. Flack collaborated with her daughter Hilma and second husband William Rose Benét on later works and passed away in Pigeon Cove, Massachusetts.
