Marina Balina

Marina Balina is the Isaac Funk Professor Emerita and Professor of Russian Studies at Illinois Wesleyan University, where her scholarship focuses on the historical and theoretical aspects of twentieth-century Russian children's literature, particularly Soviet fairy tales. She has edited or co-edited eleven volumes and co-authored the collective monograph 'The Pedagogy of Images' published by University of Toronto Press in 2021. Her academic background includes an M.A. in German from Herzen Pedagogical University and graduate studies in Philology from Leningrad State University.
