Maria Catherine
Mary Catherine Bateson (1939-2021) was a best-selling author, linguist, and cultural anthropologist, daughter of Margaret Mead and Gregory Bateson. She earned her Ph.D. in linguistics from Harvard in 1963 and authored influential works such as Arabic Language Handbook (1967), With a Daughter's Eye (1984), and the New York Times bestseller Composing a Life (1991). She held academic positions including Dean at Amherst College and President of the Institute of Intercultural Studies.[1][4]
