Margaret Oliphant
Margaret Oliphant Wilson (1828–1897) was a prolific Scottish novelist, historian, and biographer best known for her portraits of small-town life and domestic realism. She published nearly 100 novels, 25 works of non-fiction, 50 short stories, and over 300 articles and essays during her literary career. After marrying her cousin Frank Oliphant in 1852, she became the primary breadwinner for her family while also mentoring other writers and contributing significantly to Victorian literature.
