Margaret Leech
Margaret Leech (1893–1974) was an acclaimed American historian and novelist, best known for winning the Pulitzer Prize for History twice: first in 1942 for Reveille in Washington, making her the first woman to win in that category, and again in 1960 for In the Days of McKinley. Born in Newburgh, New York, she began writing young, publishing novels like The Back of the Book (1924) before dedicating herself to historical works based on extensive research. She died in New York City at age 80.
