Manfred A. Max-Neef

Manfred A. Max-Neef (1932–2019) was a Chilean economist of German descent known for his work on development alternatives, “Barefoot Economics,” and the concept of human-scale development. He taught at the University of California, Berkeley and later at Universidad Austral de Chile, and he also ran for president of Chile in 1993.
