Madeleine Kamman
Madeleine Kamman (1930-2018) was a French-born renowned restaurateur, cookbook author, cooking school operator, and PBS television personality who championed classic French cuisine in America. She founded the Modern Gourmet cooking school in Massachusetts and later established a school for American chefs in Napa Valley, mentoring over a hundred chefs throughout her career. Known for her critical perspective on American cooking education and her famous disputes with other culinary figures, Kamman was a pioneering female chef who succeeded in the male-dominated culinary profession.
