MacMillan, Harold

Maurice Harold Macmillan, 1st Earl of Stockton (1894–1986), was a British statesman and Conservative politician who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1957 to 1963. Nicknamed 'Supermac', he was known for his pragmatism and wit, and his tenure was marked by efforts to rebuild relations with the United States, facilitate African decolonization, and negotiate the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. After leaving office, he returned to his family's publishing house and authored memoirs providing insights into his life and political philosophy.
