Lyn Macdonald
Lyn Macdonald was a renowned British historian specializing in World War I, whose books such as *1914*, *They Called It Passchendaele*, and *1915: The Death of Innocence* drew on first-person accounts from survivors and eyewitnesses.[1][2][4] Born in Glasgow to Gertrude and Hugh Macdonald, she worked as a BBC Radio producer before leaving in 1973 to focus on writing, earning the Yorkshire Post Book of the Year Award in 1987.[1][2][3] She lived in London, was married to Ian, and was survived by children Aline, Alastair, and Michael.[1][2]
