Lyman Abbott
Lyman Abbott (1835-1922) was an influential American Congregationalist theologian, editor, and author who shaped public discourse on social issues through his editorial work. After practicing law and serving as a pastor, he became a prominent journalist, editing the Christian Union (later renamed The Outlook) for decades, where he advocated for labor reform, woman suffrage, and other progressive causes. He was known for his liberal theology and his efforts to reconcile Christian faith with modern scientific thought, including Darwin's evolutionary theory.
