Lucian

Lucian of Samosata (c. 125 – after 180 AD) was a Hellenized Syrian satirist, rhetorician, and pamphleteer known for his tongue-in-cheek style that ridiculed philosophers, priests, and religious superstitions. Although his native language was likely Syriac, all his extant works were written in ancient Greek, including notable dialogues such as 'Dialogues of the Gods' and 'A True History,' which is considered an early work of science fiction. He began as an apprentice sculptor, became a successful traveling lecturer, and later served as a procurator in Egypt before his death.
