LM Montgomery

Lucy Maud Montgomery (L.M. Montgomery) was a Canadian author born on November 30, 1874, in Clifton (now New London), Prince Edward Island, who lost her mother at 21 months and was raised by her maternal grandparents in Cavendish after her father moved west.[1][2] She briefly taught school, studied literature at Dalhousie University, and achieved international fame with her 1908 novel Anne of Green Gables, the first of 20 novels, numerous short stories, essays, and poems mostly set on Prince Edward Island.[1][2] Despite her cheerful works, she struggled with depression and died on April 24, 1942, possibly by suicide.[2][5]
