Leo Steinberg

Leo Steinberg was an American art critic and historian known for his influential writings on Renaissance art and modern masters such as Picasso, Jasper Johns, and Willem de Kooning. Born in Moscow and raised in Berlin and London, he emigrated to New York in 1945 and became a leading voice in 20th‑century art criticism.
