Leo Bruce

Leo Bruce was the pseudonym of British author Rupert Croft-Cooke (1903–1979), renowned for his traditional detective novels featuring Sergeant William Beef and Carolus Deene[1][2]. His works are celebrated for their clever plots, self-aware humor, and parodic critique of detective fiction conventions[2][5]. He wrote over 100 books in total, including 31–32 mystery novels under the Leo Bruce name[1][3].
