Lawrence Rainey

Lawrence Andrew Rainey Sr. was an American law enforcement officer who served as Sheriff of Neshoba County, Mississippi, from 1963 to 1967. He became notorious for his alleged role in the 1964 murders of civil rights workers James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner, but he was acquitted of federal charges in 1967.
