Laurence Gonzales is an American novelist, journalist, essayist, and pilot known for books about survival, risk, and human resilience, including the bestselling *Deep Survival*. He has published both fiction and nonfiction, won two National Magazine Awards, and has also been a scholar at the Santa Fe Institute.
