Laura Brodie

Laura Brodie, born Laura Ann Fairchild in Columbus, Ohio, is an American author and professor of English at Washington and Lee University, where she has taught creative writing and literature for 25 years before retiring in May 2026. A Harvard graduate with a Ph.D. from the University of Virginia, she has written novels, memoirs, and nonfiction works including 'Breaking Out: VMI and the Coming of Women' and 'The Widow's Season.' She lives in Lexington, Virginia, with her husband and three daughters.
