Lady Gregory
Isabella Augusta, Lady Gregory (née Persse; 1852–1932) was an Anglo-Irish dramatist, folklorist, and theatre manager who co-founded the Irish Literary Theatre in 1899 and the Abbey Theatre in 1904 with W.B. Yeats and Edward Martyn.[1][2] She wrote or translated nearly 40 plays, including peasant comedies and fantasies based on Irish folklore, playing a key role in the Irish Literary Revival.[2][3] Born into Anglo-Irish gentry in County Galway, she collected folklore from the Aran Islands and locals, preserving Irish myths and culture.[1][3]
