Luther Emmett Holt (1855–1924) was an American pediatrician, researcher, teacher, author, and public health reformer whose influence was felt worldwide. He helped found the Babies Hospital in New York City in 1889, the first hospital to deal exclusively with infants and their illnesses, and greatly reduced child mortality rates through his work. He was a pioneer in pediatrics who also organized the Child Health Organization in 1917, which later became a national movement.
