L. Bretherick
Leslie Bretherick (1926–2003) was a British chemist renowned as an internationally recognized authority on laboratory safety. Motivated by laboratory explosions reported in scientific literature, he authored Bretherick's Handbook of Reactive Chemical Hazards, first published in 1975, which compiles data on dangerous chemical reactions and has saved countless lives. He received the American Chemical Society's Chemical Health and Safety Award in 1988 for his contributions.
