Karen Alkalay-Gut
Karen Alkalay-Gut is a poet, professor emeritus, and editor born in London during World War II who grew up in the United States and moved to Israel in 1972. She taught English literature at Tel Aviv University until her retirement in 2015 and has published over 35 books of poetry, biography, and translations, with subjects including life in Israel, the Holocaust, and biblical themes. She chairs the Israel Association of Writers in English and has translated works by major Hebrew poets including Yehuda Amichai.
