Judy Alter
Judy Alter (1938–2024) was an American novelist and author renowned for her works on the history and literature of Texas and the American West, particularly the experiences of women in the nineteenth century. She authored over fifty young adult non-fiction books, fictional biographies of Western women, and sixteen cozy mysteries set primarily in Texas, including the Kelly O’Connell and Blue Plate Café series. Alter passed away at age 85 after a short battle with cancer.
