Judith Tannenbaum
Judith Tannenbaum (1947–2019) was an educator, poet, writer, and speaker who taught poetry in schools, community centers, prisons, and juvenile facilities, including decades at San Quentin State Prison.[1][2][3] She served as faculty and training coordinator for WritersCorps and authored memoirs like *Disguised as a Poem: My Years Teaching Poetry at San Quentin* (2000) and co-authored *By Heart: Poetry, Prison, and Two Lives* (2010).[2][3] Her work focused on prison justice, reform, and the transformative power of poetry among incarcerated and marginalized students.[1][4][5]
