Jr. Vonnegut Kurt

Kurt Vonnegut Jr. was an American author born in Indianapolis, Indiana, known for blending science fiction, satire, and black comedy in works like Slaughterhouse-Five, which drew from his World War II experiences as a POW during the Dresden bombing. After studying at Cornell University and serving in the U.S. Army, he worked in public relations at General Electric before becoming a full-time writer, publishing his first novel Player Piano in 1952. He authored 14 novels, short story collections, plays, and nonfiction over a prolific career spanning more than 50 years until his death in 2007.
