Joseph Stevenson
Joseph Stevenson (1806-1895) was an English priest, archivist, and prolific editor of historical texts who began his scholarly work around 1830. Initially Anglican, he served as librarian and rector before converting to Catholicism and joining the Society of Jesus in 1877 at age 70, continuing his research until his death. He edited numerous volumes for societies like the Maitland Club, Surtees Society, and Rolls Series, including key works on British and Scottish history.
